What
is a Waste Exchange?
A
Waste Exchange is an operation that enables materials discarded
by one company to be re-used by another company. These can
be production by-products, obsolete or unused raw materials,
hazardous waste and recyclable products. The concept is
not new with exchanges operating successfully throughout
the USA for many years. In the USA millions of tonnes of
material destined to landfill have been exchanged leading
to massive savings to companies of both disposal and material
costs.
In
the UK the potential cost savings that can be made are immense
as on average businesses spend 4.5% of their total turnover
on waste disposal and a significant percentage on raw materials.
Many of these costs can be removed through exchanging materials,
turning what was once a significant drain on financial resources
into profit!

What
are the benefits?
Waste
Exchange UK promotes the use of one business or organisations
waste for another's raw material.
Both
the financial and environmental benefits can be tremendous
through exchanging wastes and finding the most suitable route
of disposal. European and domestic legislation regarding waste
management, such as the introduction of the landfill tax and
packaging regulations, has made the disposal of waste a significant
drain on the financial resources, with recent predictions
suggesting an average of 4.5% total turnover. Therefore any
reduction on disposal costs goes straight back into your bottom
line, literary allowing you to turn
waste into profit!

Furthermore,
not only does exchanging waste save money on disposal cost it
also saves money on raw material costs. No matter how large
or small the company substantial savings can easily be made.
